Go and Get Yourself Some Cheap Sunglasses

Three years ago, I saw a photo of Kate Moss wearing the "Voyager" Carrera sunglasses. I searched all over Seattle for a pair, and after what seemed like a long time later, Barney's got them in. They're a staple in Europe because of the high style/low price point and stylish Europeans like that they can buy more than a couple pair for the price of one pair of designer sunglasses. If they look familiar to you it's because they were all they rage in the U.S. back in the 80s, and made comeback in the young urban underground a couple of years ago.Publications like Vice Magazine began to feature the Reggie Jackson style of sunglasses that all the edgy urbanites were sporting in the clubs, primarily DJ's in NYC and LA. It was at this time that I saw an ad for a Von Zipper style that looked similar to the Reggie Jackson glasses he wore in the 80s. Lucky for me, it was the one item available for immediate purchase in several Seattle skate shops. The really funny part is that they were selling off the shelves in other parts of the country, and not budging here, so I got them at a discount.  Since Carrera never stopped producing their 80s style in Europe, the coolest jetsetters could be seen sporting a pair while we were all hung up on more mainstream designs. They've always been appealing to x factor having "cool" people- rock'n'rollers and celebrities in particular, who have been sporting them all over the place and have become mainstream enough for Seattle. Last week I walked into Solstice at Pacific Place downtown and they informed me that are installing a permanent fixture on the wall and plan on carrying a substantial selection of Carrera's as a regular item (it almost makes up for having to walk by the True Religion shop) . They currently have a good variety starting at around $98.00. My favorite style for Spring is the "Safari", although at these prices, I'm sure I'll get more than one. I would by them regardless of the price because they're just so damn cool, but  these days cheaper is definately a bonus.

By the way, this is the current style of Von Zipper must haves "The Stache". Although it is currently unavaible, it may be worth looking for locally since people don't always buy the most cutting edge styles here...try looking in any skate shop. I know I will.
