So much has happened in the past couple months, it seems impossible to recap it all. Fabulous parties and events, exciting projects and good times with the Subterfuge Set…but the highlights for me were a beautiful luncheon, a lovely birthday surprise and most recently, a fashion show featuring our very own Tristan Uhl.

Moschino once said, “If you can’t be elegant, at least be extravagant.” Rarely do we find a person who can manage to be both, but the master of extravagant elegance is certainly none other than Count Kody Tuwalestiwa.

In May, Count Kody, owner of Count Kody INC and one of our favorite of the Subterfuge Set, hosted a fabulous luncheon.  Of course, the abode of a well-known event planner should be beautiful, but the Count’s elaborate apartment was so fantastic guests were challenged to look away from elaborate tapestry, a breathtaking chandelier  (or two) and a plethora of guilded ornamentation in order to focus on conversation.

Before finishing our first flute of champagne we were seated at an elegant table for our first course of fruit skewers and champagne fizzy shooters. There could only be wonderful conversation with such guests as Patricia Szabo, Director of Providence O’Christmas Trees;  Liza Ragan, owner of Choice Linens and Chair Covers;  Duell Fisher, Executive Producer of Team Photogenic and Seen by Team Photogenic; and Angela Hill, Account Executive and Event Producer for Team Photogenic. There was much to discuss about Count Kody INC and the many projects keeping the party, event and wedding planning company buzzing. Of course, with such entertaining conversation, it took some time to finish the second course of jumbo prawn cocktail, but when the third course of apricot almond chicken salad, fresh mixed greens and chilled asparagus spears was served, even us enthusiastic conversationalists were silenced. Nothing could compare though, to the desert course- Haagen Dazz miniature buckets, baklava and some of the best coffee in Seattle. The Count even sent his happy guests home with a beautiful favor from Bliss Soaps.

Later that evening, The Sorrento Cocktail Club convened at The Sorrento Hotel. There were so many new faces it was difficult to make everyone’s acquaintance. Sarah Caples, editor of Subterfuge and founder of The Sorrento Cocktail Club, was impressed with the turnout, which has been steadily increasing since it began in September. The first Club consisted of Sarah and a few close friends- it is now closer to 100 guests. Fun conversations, flirtations and drinks made the evening so enjoyable, one could scarcely make it out of the hotel for a têt-á-têt and a smoke.

The best part of the evening though, was hearing the Happy Birthday song belted out by all of the Sorrento Cocktail Club as Sarah Caples held a plate of truffles with a birthday candle for moi. I can’t say what my wish was, but I could not have wished for a lovelier evening.
This past Friday at the Seattle Art Museum’s REMIX event, I was lucky enough to be a part of the fashion show as a model for Tristan Uhl. Walking down the runway to Nirvana’s "Smells Like Teen Spirit", one of my favorite songs, I was ecstatic to be wearing one of Tristan’s creations. His inspiration was Andy Warhol’s self portrait with skull; my dress showcased Tristan’s immaculate handiwork- a beaded rendition of the skull. On the dress of model, Paula Olivier, was the perfectly beaded signature of Andy Warhol.  I can’t say more- this story is another writer’s territory, but I loved both dresses and am excited to wear mine to the next Bellwether party.
And speaking of parties, this coming week I’ll be attending the DList Third Anniversary Party.  My first assignments working on the Subterfuge blog were to attend club parties and a few events. The DList Anniversary Party was my first. It will be a trip down memory lane this Thursday. I’m looking forward to it.
