Being friends with Volterra Restaurant owner Michelle Quisenberry has its perks. Not only is she super generous with her friends, she's cool too. When Michelle's childhood friend Brian Applegate had his birthday, she decided to host it in Volterra's event room 80s style.
An intimate group of Seattle's cool kids gathered for dinner in the restaurant before the party wearing their 80s best. Among the fab kids were chef and mixologist Kathy Casey, wearing an actual Betsy Johnson dress that she's had since the 80s, and her husband Jon, sporting a blue velvet jacket from back in the day; Seattle society and party animal JJ McKay, who had a very sexy James Spader thing going on; the young and super cute- think Tom Cruise in Risky Business- Nathan Parcells; socialite and Dressage Princess Lisa Schepis, whose hair was in classic 80s curls; the sexy duo of "edgy" girls, photographer Cass Redstone, her wife Jess, wearing boyish preppy Polo shirts and Levi's; as well as Subterfuge Editor Sarah Elizabeth Caples, who was channeling her best rocker babe in skinny jeans, Roxy Music tee and teased bangs.
Michelle herself was wearing a classic 80s look- "Madonna Wannabe," complete with leg warmers. The material girl wanted to make sure her friend's party was a hit, so she invited her coolest peeps as "fluffers." With this edgy crowd, calling them fluffers only served to stoke the flames so to speak. They danced to everything the DJ played from new wave to glam rock. Well into the night the 80s hits kept coming and they never seemed to take a break. Brian said it was the best birthday he's ever had!
