Last night, I was invited to attend the premier and party of Sex and the City 2 hosted by ChickChat. Tamara Wilson of Wilson PR worked with Tracy Klinkworth creator of Chickchat to put on last night's event and the results were HUGE. Women from Seattle and the eastside were in full attendance. The number I heard was 500... an enormous number of people to be filling the space at Palomino in Bellevue. As wall to wall fashionistas meandered their way through the crowd, Duell Fisher, with his crew of TeamPhotogenic photographed the best dressed people in the room. The question of what to wear to an event like this is important business. Luckily, I have a few friends in the Seattle fashion industry, which makes choosing fun. I wanted to use the opportunity to wear something created by a local designer who could best represent my personal style. Who better to wear than leather and fur designer Carole McCellan? Carole McClellan put herself on the map back in the 70s when she designed clothes for Ann Wilson of Heart during the Barrcuda years. I also wore a gorgeous necklace designed by Martha Driver of Rock Star Jewelry that I recieved as a Christmas gift.
In case you haven't heard, Duell Fisher's company, Team Photogenic, is at every event worth talking about. From galas to private parties, his team is there to photograph Seattle's finest at every relevant turn. I've attended parties in other cities where Seattle people have gone for a weekend jaunt together- Team Photogenic has been there. Fisher has also launched his own red carpet interview show via the internet. The beautiful people get to be showcased by SEEN as they walk the red carpet to reveal whose designs they are wearing and make comments on the experience they're having at the party. Pictured here, are Fisher and Kristi Gegner Nangle. I love how Kristi mixed patterns and color in this fun outfit, very clever. I wanted to knock her down and steal the shoes off her feet at one point, but thought better of it- too many witnesses. I'll save my energy for that pair of Louboutins Mchelle Q. was ordering online.
Well-known event designer, the ultra opulant Count Kody of Tuwalestiva, was conducting red carpet interviews on behalf of SEEN. I had the priveledge of being interviewed as did many of the well turned out women in attendance. Two of my favorite style mavens are Anya Rudd, and Luly Yang pr rep. Rose Dennis, who were head to toe elegance. These women never miss the mark when it comes to being impeccably dressed. Although my personal style is rock'n'roll glamour, the lavish more refined glamour of this pair is much appreciated. I'm covetous of Rose's necklace, I imagine it looks good against black leather...
Also, interviewed by Count Kody for SEEN was stylist and socialite, Galina Peterson who is imbued with something so totally french, it's fitting that her husband is a vintner and endearingly refers to her as 'Bisou". I love her lace and fur. She says there's a coat that goes with that piece that she acquired in her motherland, Russia. Although, people in Seattle are uncomfortble with wearing fur, I do think it's rather responsible to buy vintage and recycled fur (which is what Carole McClellan uses). I left the party with Michelle Quisenberry, Galina Peterson, Alex Hayes, mixologist Kathy Casey, and her associate Cameo McRoberts. The six of us headed to the movie together and had a wonderful time. Visions of outfits styled by Patricia Fields have been dancing around in my mind all day. As for the movie itself, let's just say I came out of it feeling like a very good wife and mother. I also noted that Samantha types need not apply to be in my circle- I just can't get behind what comes off as a desperate attempt to be one of the guys. And girlfriends, if you run into your happily married ex while on vacation in Abu Dhabi, I will make sure that you sleep on it before calling home to confess. In fact, I will sit on you and throw the cell phone out of the window, or better yet, at your head. However, in spite of that awful karaoke scene that went so far as to emabarrass me, all is forgiven thanks to the fact that I have so many fresh ideas. Besides, I was in the company of the most fabulous, diehard girlfriends. Which is, next to a good style personality, the only thing that really matters.
